Free Parking in Singapore
Singapore has a robust network of HDB carparks that offer free parking during off-peak hours, on Sundays, and on public holidays. Here is everything you need to know to park for free — or as cheaply as possible.
When is Parking Free in Singapore?
Free parking in Singapore largely depends on the carpark type and the time of day. For the majority of HDB public carparks, parking is free during the following windows:
- Sundays — all day, for most HDB carparks islandwide.
- Public holidays — treated the same as Sundays under HDB's parking rules.
- 10:30pm – 7:00am — overnight free parking at non-central area HDB carparks every day.
Central-area carparks (such as those in the CBD, Chinatown, and Toa Payoh town centre) typically do not offer free overnight parking and charge throughout the day on weekdays and Saturdays.
Free HDB Carpark Parking Hours
The table below summarises the standard free parking rules for HDB carparks. Note that individual carparks may have slightly different rules — always check the posted signage at the carpark entrance.
| Day / Period | Non-Central HDB | Central Area HDB |
|---|---|---|
| Weekdays 7am – 10:30pm | $0.60 / half hour | $0.60 – $1.20 / half hour |
| Daily 10:30pm – 7am | Free | Charged |
| Sundays | Free all day | Free all day |
| Public Holidays | Free all day | Free all day |
Rates are indicative and based on HDB's standard schedule. Confirm with carpark signage for the most accurate information.

Tips for Finding Cheap Parking in Singapore
- Sort by price. Use the "Price" sort in SG Carpark Finder to instantly rank carparks from cheapest to most expensive. HDB carparks consistently undercut commercial and mall lots.
- Choose HDB over commercial. HDB carparks typically charge $0.60 per half hour, roughly half the rate of a typical commercial lot, which often charges $1.50 – $2.00 per half hour or more.
- Park just before 10:30pm. If you only need your car for the evening, arriving just before the free-parking window opens means you might only pay for a short metered period before the free hours kick in.
- Plan trips on Sundays. If you have flexibility, running errands on Sundays lets you take advantage of island-wide free HDB parking.
- Check availability before you go. SG Carpark Finder shows real-time lot availability so you can avoid circling a full carpark and wasting time — and fuel.
